Chesapeake Bay near North East, Maryland
After a month of unseasonably cooler temperatures, which put the fish back a few weeks for their annual spawn, this fishing is starting to improve. Most of the fish have already spawned and have now started to move into their summer patterns. Fish can be found in the grass flats in most of the creek arms and the Susquehanna Flats. There is a good bite on swimjigs and chatterbaits in the grass flats. The tide will dictate when the best bite will happen. Moving water is a plus when you are fishing the grass. If you come across some heavier grass that is matted up try pitching a texas-rigged plastic to the area or a top water frog. Fishing around man made structure and laydowns is another key pattern that is emerging. I like to use texas -rigged worms and jigs and pitch it tight to cover. Some of the best fishing of the year is coming up so take advantage of these long summer days and head on over to the Chesapeake Bay! I am currently booking trips on the Bay and have some dates available. Please contact me for more information!
